Want to meet another cool local music artist? His name is Neil Cervantes also known as kidlatpamukaw. His favorite instrument is also one of my faves, the Djembe. He also play some indigenous instruments such as Kudlong, Kubing and Kulintang. Like other artists, he also write songs. Reggae and Ethno/World is his genre. Disappearing Island
When I discovered these legendary stories, I had goosebumps all over my body. I have second thoughts on publishing it. But this is part of Philippine culture and I have to share it. Kubing
Are you fond of indigenous kind of instruments? In this article, we will talk about Kubing, one of my favorite instruments to play. Also called as kobing in Maranao, kolibau in Tingguian, aroding in Palawan, aru-ding in Tagbanwa, kulaing in Yakan, karombi in Toraja and yori in Kailinese. It is a type of jaw harp. To make a sound out of it, you need to place it infront of your mouth and then pluck its tip. It is made of bamboo. Its design is usally being carved or painted. Some also make gold, silver or bronze handles attach to it for a more elegant look. Kubing produces different key of notes with the help of flexing the tongue of the user inside his mouth.
